There is nothing wrong with them charging for a ferry. they worked their butts off FF and should be rewarded if they so choose. If you have no problem paying to get into FoW or UW why would you have any problems paying here? It's cheaper and gives you unlimited runs vs. FoW or UW where if you get a bad pug you just lost 1k. With this you can try again for the initial fee. If you still think this is unfair then FoW and UW should be closed since there is an entrance fee. If you want it for free then wait for another alliance or to take over and hope they let anyone in at all or have your alliance spend weeks FF.

Well Looks like you chose the wrong Faction because In Cavalon I have yet to see a charge for Entering the Deep. Most of them won't even take a tip. We Luxon take care of our own and that is why Jade is only at 1.8k instead of 4k like Kurzic because ya'll take advantage of your own!
Have you ever Paid for a Run in GWP? Tell me what the difference is though? Non in my book they are taking you some place you either haven't been or can't get too.

This is quite interesting, last night I got my ranger into the Deep for free (tyvm, TC ), today I took my Assassin over to House zu Heltzer to see if I could get into Urgoz's Warren, and there members of LUST were charging one Amber for a ferry. We were discussing this in all chat, then a LUST member pm'ed me and offered me a free ride. He said charging 1 Amber was Alliance policy, but that he thought it was stupid (he told me not to tell anyone who he did this).
IMO, charging is stupid, since it won't win the rest of the community over. People will be cheering for other Alliances to take over. If I remember correctly, XoO didn't charge when it had control of HzH, and they, just like TC, have the support and praise of many community members.

I dont know - I was on last night, and there were many members of the controlling Alliance ferrying people for free - they kept taking a full party and kept coming back to get more. Maybe you just saw some selfish members?? Was pretty nice - they kept saying they would come back to get more people. Unfortunately I could not do this last night, as I had "real world" stuff to do, but hope they are still there tonight.... Oh and the fireworks were pretty cool too

Don't want to pay a modest fee? Don't. I'm pretty sure they won't care if you get into the mission or not.

Wrong faction..uhhh...dude, they give ferries to everyone, Luxon and Kurzick. Oh an btw, did you get any ferries off Bkbd for free? Didnt think so. HzH ferries are also free and yes, it might amaze you but they also allow Luxons in
As for Jade vs Amber, I took one look at Luxon warrior armor and fell over laughing at the notion people would actually pay to look that ridiculous
Jade? I dump it at the traders for fast cash like most people do, thats why its cheap.

I know fo a fact every time [AE] alliance evolution hold HzH there will be NO ferrying of anykind. It's been decided that we work hard to get it and we'll take the rewards.
Currently each major alliance looses around 600k of faction A DAY(10% of total)! Do know how hard it is to get that much faction a day!

Anet must have considered that some Guilds would charge for letting people through the gates, so I doubt anyone is going to get banned for doing so.

That's pretty much what the dev team were thinking. We've been monitoring the whole Alliance system, including Elite mission access, since the first day the system was available. This includes in-game, forum feedback, reports from alpha testers, our own experience and other data sources besides.
Based on the results of the data gathering, the dev team will be making changes to how Elite missions are accessed in the future. When, I can't say. But changes will be made. That said, Alliances who control HzH or Cavalon are within their rights to ask a fee for access to the missions. As one player above pointed out, that's similar to accessing FoW or UW or getting a Drok's Run etc.

Each side only has 1 good set of armor, Kurzick 1.5k Female Monk and Luxon 15k warrior. Besides that waist your money I have FoW on 2 chars and rest have 15k Canthan or 15k GWP.
The Luxon Ferries let anyone in Free all the time, Never have I seen a Kurzic offer free Ferry and Im in House zu Craphole all the time trying to get the scared and weak Kurzics to come to Jade Quarry or Aspenwood to get their butts wiped by a real Faction.

Well... orKs Alliance is french only guilds...
So it would be hard to offer free ferry in US districs / Asia districts.
HOWEVER, we offered at least 1000000000 free ferry in inter district during all the week end...
So...

I'm not saying pay real money to them. I'm talking about the further unfairness involved in an in-game charge. They shouldn't be allowed to charge us to play a mission. Why should I pay in-game gold that I work hard on getting, just to play an elite mission?
|
Don't. The system is bad. It doesn't test one's skill to gain access only one's free time to farm which goes against the very claims anet put out about this game. A change is in the making. Will it be a change to make things better or will it be a change to make things worse? Only time will answer that question.
As the current system stand it give total control to the players in that particular alliance. If they so choose they could, as long as they hold it, decide not to let anyone else in. They could charge any amount for a ferry in or give them for free. Depending on the group in control the situation will change. For any to ask just for a tip then count your blessings cause that is a really good offer compared to other paths that person(s) could have taken. So if you don't want to pay then don't. You can look for a free ride, try to farm faction and get control yourself, not do the mission or just wait to see what the future brings with the update in the making.
So to answer the question shortly. Don't.

In defense of the ferries for $$:
Every time someone donates 10k faction, he gives 25k away for his clan. Those 25k don't come back unless he does the lite mission and finds good drops.
So what this really is is a lottery ticket that costs a lot of cash but may result in nothing.
Not everyone is rich and those who donate to their alliance would like some compensation too.
I remember one time when an alliance let a lot of people in for free and a crapload of those people then started abusing.
From that point of view I'd be 100% against free ferries.
In defense of the free ferries:
If an alliance takes control of the capital and that alliance uses botfarmers or anything like that, then there will be zero way to get into those missions since the botfarmers will do whatever it takes to milk it.
Free ferries now will keep the missions accessible for a lot of people for a very very long time and this also fights the bots because with the large amount of zodiacs, the bots will make less money.
From that point of view I'd be 100% against charged ferries.
Still, if you think about it. 6mil faction for kurzick. Amber at 2.5k.. (kurzick faction IS HARDER TO GET THATS WHY AMBER ISNT THAT CHEAP, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LUXONS BEING NICE PEOPLE, afaik, luxons are *** who send afkers to our pve battles so luxons get cheap faction themselves... but whatever)
So 6 mil faction at 2.5k amber price = 15million gold.
(wtf i'm surprised by that myself)
Upkeep of 600k faction per day = 1.5 million gold.
Calling the chargers names and abusing them etc is stupid because those people put a lot of time and money and ingame money in all this.
And the luxon alliance DOES charge for it. afaik, they let people in, donate faction and then kick them out again but they still give ferries for free to everyone.
It's solidarity from both sides but still, their ferries, if you donate faction, are still about 10k worth of jade X.x

Dunno how you say they do but i just gotten ferried to Urgoz Warren without having to pay. LUST seems to be ferrying people for free. Some of them do say TIPS are wellcome.
All I can tell you is that the damn elite mission which everyone keeps complaining actually IS VERY PISSY HARD and likely you end up with some stupid leavers.
One thing. Get necrotic transversal cuz ur gonna need it. Loose your necro and kiss the elite mission goodbye.

A member of LUST ferried me to Urgoz last night. He offered to do it for tips, I voluntarily paid 2k. It's a service, and one I appreciate--I don't like the way it's set up right now, but I'm not going to begrudge the controlling alliance some benefit for all that grinding. Grinding faction is incredibly boring, and anyone who can do that enough to win HzH...wow.

its hard enough finding a group in the Deep, where people are let in for free. have fun waiting for a group when your alliance controls it.

all I know is, the reward for an alliance getting all that faction should strictly be gaining access to own a town and playing a mission. Truthfully with the system Anet has now that should be rewarding enough, if that is what an alliance is striving for. An alliance doesn't have to spend all that time and "sole called sacrificing their chance to have all that gold from selling amber", they made a decision to want to control a town and the reward is access to elite mission. That is their decision so we shouldn't feel sympathetic that they sacrificed time and "money" and tip or allow them to charge for entry.
Other than that I read alot of posts that did calm me down on this matter and I accept the whole concept of the owning alliances asking for tip. I just don't agree with it.
